Chef Steve Barton has successfully held many challenging chef and management positions all over the world. After completing his training in Manchester, in the UK, he quickly realised the benefits of his qualifications for travelling. He has worked in South Africa, Malawi, Botswana, Fiji and New Zealand to name a few.
Since arriving in New Zealand in 1994 he has cooked for heads of states at CHOGM and APEC, at various premiers and for numerous presidents, and of course, the prime ministers of New Zealand both past and present.
At the Ellerslie Events Centre Chef Barton overseas 7 kitchens, 35 food outlets catering for conferences, seminars, weddings, expo’s and The Auckland Racing Club’s race days amongst other events.
Chef Barton was President of the New Zealand Chefs Association. He was one of the longest running presidents and membership has trebled during this time. He was heavily involved in the planning of the WACS 2006 Congress being held in Auckland, March 2006. This congress “An invitation to Blossom” promised to be a highlight of the World Culinary calendar.
He has been a member of The Judges Panel at the New Zealand Culinary Fare for the past six years. He is a popular and professional judge at Salon Culinairies throughout the Pacific Rim, South East Asia and the Middle East areas.
Chef Barton also has his own consulting company Creative Cuisine International which specializes in; product development, product launches, international presentations and chef consulting to restaurant chains. Consulting to NZ Trade and Enterprise with International Taste New Zealand events in Seoul, Korea. Chef Ambassador for Atlantic Salmon, Chef Ambassador for the launch of Angus Prime Beef and member of the HIS advisor board. Executive chef for the Pacific game in Roratonga, cooking 75,000 meals over 17 days. Consulting Chef for Gold Health – invited guest and hosted by Chinese government to the second China catering Expo. Presently he is working as the Chef Ambassador for Angus Meats and Fonterra Food Service.
